I had a nice low key birthday with my little family, nothing too fancy which I like. Its hard these days since our schedule revolves around Kiersten's little schedule.
I totally lucked out at jury selection on Friday. There were about 100-125 people waiting for the courts to start selecting people. I checked in around 8:30am & was bored, I haven't sat in a room this long since a college class. At 10:15am, we were told that the 3 courts in session no longer needed us & we were free to go!!! Yeah!!! Two of the cases ended up settling and 1 case was adjourned for the day. We were told that we were the lucky ones b/c the day before they were selecting a jury for a murder case.
We visited a friend and her new baby on Saturday. We drove over to Ikea to grab a gift for my niece who turns 2yrs old this Friday. We drove back towards 12 Oaks Mall to try & find tennis shoes for Peter (his soccer camp began today). This morning, we get to soccer camp & I thought it was a little weird that there were no cars in the parking lot. My phone starts ringing & a lady comes up...."I tried to call you this weekend, but I never heard back from you. There wasn't enough kids signed up so we had to cancel." Apparently, the number she wrote to take home with her was not my number which she says was her mistake. My correct number was in her office, but she didn't call me until class was to begin. She could have saved me the trip. So, now we have no camps for Peter b/c camps are filled up. He is on a waiting list for another camp next month, hopefully we get in.
We headed over to a friends' home to play. Abi was in his preschool class & they'll be in kindergarten together. We live really close to so it was fun to spend a little time with friends.
Other crazy news....they have been doing a search for a body in the lake behind us. It was a woman that went missing 11 days ago. We heards tons of helicopters this morning (the media) and I hope she is found rather quickly so she can be put to rest. This is a really nice area, but things can happen anywhere.
Yesterday (Sunday), a 1yr old (or 18mth old) was shot 4 times & killed in crossfire by an AK47 (drug deal gone wrong). His mom & grandma were also shot(will recover), but luckily his twin sister was not hurt. It happened at an intersection we drove through on Sat when we visited my friend & her baby. In fact, my friend lived just a half a block down. Pretty scary and tragic.
