Chicago Trip

Sunday morning, we gathered the crew (my bro Pong, his girlfriend May, her son Eric, Dianne & my family & our nephew Calvin) and hopped onto the Metra Subway System down to Chicago. It was $5/adult & free for all the kids round trip so the hour long trip was bearable. Gas & parking would have cost a lot more money. The kids did great for the most part. Dianne & Kiersten were totally off their nap schedules, but survived. We went to the Sears Tower (which Pete & I already visited previously), walked down towards the river to check out the Taste of Chicago & all of the activity. We checked out a few stores on MI Avenue, Wabash & State Street. We knew we were going to try & catch the 6:40pm back to Elgin (the last stop!!) so we headed back to the station & we got there at 5:50pm.

On our way back to the station, we had a hard time finding an elevator for the strollers so we had to use the escalator even though we didn't want to. We had a rude couple cut in front us saying "Excuse Me'" very loudly & telling us we didn't know how to read the signs. I told Pete that as big as they were, they should have used the stairs, they needed the excercise...rude I know, but they could have been polite. Then we got to the part where our train was & it looked like they were loading people already 40mins early. We got on the train really early and we got really good seats & we needed some space b/c we had 2 strollers. People who came at 6:45pm were so rude and some made comments about strollers and having too many kids as they were walking by. First come, first serve is my motto, not to mention we were sharing seats already. People get nasty when they are tired, we were tired too, just smarter in planning our time & trip out!

We got back to my brother's house about 8:15pm, but my body was defintely on EST. Chicago is always fun for us.

An overcast day, but still beautiful Lake MI.

Peter & big cousin Calvin playing in the water downtown. They had these 2 huge towers with water running down them. The drawback, its concrete floor & got slippery. Peter fell & hit his head & we knew it was time to move on.
